This website is a reflective collage of the elements that make up my current understanding of Computer Assisted Language Learning. Through the lens of a L2 learning context, I examine associated benefits of technology-supported learning activities, the criteria of effective technology integration, and my vision for the future of research and development.
Teachers are responsible for designing a productive and engaging environment for where learning can take place. Current trends in instructional design reflect an uptake in the integration of technology. Numerous studies have linked the use of technology to a wealth of positive outcomes, suggesting that it optimizes the conditions for learning.
The key theme of this site is the meaningful integration of technology. For the technology to produce a meaningful and positive impacts, it needs to add value that would not otherwise exist. Educators must engage in a critical reflection of their intentions before adopting a digital tool or practice. Some questions they might pose could be:
Technology should not be regarded as a magic solution to applied across all educational contexts. We must recognize that technology can have both positive and negative impacts, and that must be used with caution.
This website was designed as a reflective collage, with subsequent sections illustrating benefits associated with the technology-supported lessons, noting the requirements for effective integration, and exploring challenges that may impact our efforts.

Educators must engage in a critical reflection of their intentions before adopting a digital tool or practice. Some questions they might pose could be:
- Does the technology contribute something new, not available in the traditional classroom?
- How might technology improve the learning experience?
- Will technology support in class or at home learning?
- Does the use of the technology require training for the learners or teachers? Is this worth the investment?
- Does the technology align with curricular objectives?
- How do I need to adjust my pedagogy to align with the learning that will take place through this new platform?
